Thai Bodywork

Thai Bodywork - Unique in Derby

After qualifying as a Sports Massage Therapist in London in 2001, Allison Prince decided it was time to go to Thailand and discover the secrets of Thai Massage:

“I had been practicing Yoga for a few years and had heard of Thai massage, sometimes known as ‘lazy man’s yoga’. Being an SMT I was very interested in facilitated stretching and from what I had heard thai massage was just that. I spent three months in Thailand, travelling and experiencing the different styles of massage in different areas. During this time I attended a government certified course in Traditional Thai Massage.

I refer to it as ‘Bodywork’ as I feel it better describes the treatment. It is unlike western forms of massage. The client is fully clothed and treatment takes place on a futon mat on the floor. It involves pressing and rocking to the limbs and trunk, and stretching. Stretches are based on Yoga Asanas, hence the ‘lazy man’, the idea is you get more benefit due to being fully relaxed. It is great for increasing flexibility, mobilizing stiff joints, redressing muscular imbalances. It has a beneficial affect on the digestive system. Due to the emphasis on the breath, treatments help to calm the nervous system, hence why most of my clients report better sleep patterns.”

What Do Our Clients Say?

I was suffering with emotional stress which was presenting with loss of appetite, poor sleep, skin irritation, and dizzy episodes.

Over a ten week period I was pleased to report a wonderful appetite, improved sleep, no skin irritation and able to stop medication for these, plus no dizzy spells.

Once you get used to the treatment the benefits are obvious and I would recommend them to anyone.
